New Delhi: Federal courts in India sentenced 165 people to death in 2022, the highest use of the death penalty in the past 20 years. Comparatively to the 146 prisoners who were sent to death row in 2021.1/3 of the people who received the death penalty, the prisoners had committed a sexual offense.
