IOWA CAUCUS KICKS-OFF TODAY
With the Iowa caucuses finally underway, all candidates are hoping the vote will swing their way. Even as there are large numbers of voters already decided, there are still more on the fence. These next few hours will see candidates attempting to bring more and more voters to their side. 2016 has seen arguably one of the wildest presidential races of all time and Iowa is the culmination of a year of surges and drops in popularity for the candidates.

PEACE TALKS WITH SYRIAN GROUPS IMMINENT
In the midst of a war torn Middle East, it does appear as though there is hope for peace. With government troops advancing on the Syrian capital of Aleppo, the United Nations announced the formal start of ceasefire talks with Syria. However, these negotiations appear to be hanging on a thread. Syrian official Monzer Makhous stated that if no progress was seen in the next few days, “we are leaving”. With the threat of an ultimatum hanging over them, UN officials will likely feel the pressure to keep Syria at the table.

ZIKA VIRUS DECLARED AS A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
The mosquito borne disease known as Zika has been spreading through the Americas at an alarming rate. The CDC says it has been linked to babies with abnormally small heads as well as a neurological condition that can lead to paralysis. While the conditions do not have confirmed links to the Zika virus, World Health Organization director general Dr. Margaret Chan said the situation does warrant declaring a public health emergency.

TERRORIST ATTACK IN NIGERIA KILLS MANY
The infamous terrorist group known as Boko Haram hit a village in Nigeria last Saturday, torching the village, killing many, and injuring even more. Reports have said that at least 65 people are confirmed dead and 113 are injured following this terrorist strike. The residents of Dalori village had just finished evening prayers when Boko Haram members stormed in. This is the latest in a series of escalating attacks carried out by the terror group, who some are claiming to be even more dangerous than Daesh, or ISIS.
