CHARLOTTE KILLER TO APPEAL DEATH PENALTY

Dylann Roof is charged with the murder of nine people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina. He faces 33 different offenses, most of them racially related. His friend alleged that he wanted a race war. His killings are thought to be targeted attacks against African Americans. Attorney General Loretta Lynch believed these offenses merited the death penalty, but Roof’s lawyers disagreed, filing a motion challenging the death penalty on Monday night. The defense says that Roof would accept several life sentences without parole in exchange for the revocation of the death penalty.
