NASA FINDS LONG-LOST SPACECRAFT

NASA lost contact with STEREO-B nearly two years ago. Rather than losing hope, they continued to search for the spacecraft and that perseverance bore fruit this week. Along with its counterpart, STEREO-A, STEREO-B was conducting observations of the Sun. However, in October 2014, researchers were testing the timers of the craft when communication was blocked by the Sun. STEREO-A continued to work normally. To find STEREO-A’s estranged counterpart, NASA used their Deep Space Network, a series of radio antennae in space used normally to track missions to other planets.
