GERMAN INFLATION EASES TO LOWEST IN ALMOST THREE YEARS

In March, inflation in Germany decreased, contributing to indications that price pressures within the eurozone are diminishing. This development intensifies the pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB) to initiate interest rate cuts. In Europe's largest economy, inflation moderated to 2.3%, primarily influenced by lower food and energy prices. This marks its lowest level since June 2021.

In February, German consumer prices, adjusted to align with other European Union countries, had risen by 2.7% year-on-year. The debt brake, a provision enshrined in the German constitution, imposes limits on the public deficit, restricting it to 0.35% of gross domestic product (GDP).
