TURKEY TO RETALIATE FOR MISSILE ATTACK NEAR TURKISH BORDER

A continued offensive by the Russians in Syria brought the Syrian Army within 15 miles of the Turkish border. Kurdish militia fighters took advantage of the situation, seizing ground to expand their presence. On Monday, missiles hit two medical facilities and two schools, resulting in nearly 50 dead. Another attack on the Syrian town of Azaz, near the Turkish border, left 14 dead. Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that if Kurdish YPG fighters approach again, they will be retaliated against.

BAHRAIN POLICE DETAIN U.S. JOURNALISTS

In a statement on Monday, Reporters Without Borders said that four U.S. journalists had been detained in Bahrain. Anna Day and her three colleagues had recently filmed a virtual reality documentary in Egypt and were covering a story in Bahrain when they were arrested for submitting false information to border staff, among other things. The U.S. State Department has acknowledged the detainment of the four journalists, but declined to comment.

CRUZ: LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE DOES NOT WORK

Ahead of the South Carolina primary, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is pushing back the numerous allegations of lying from Florida Senator Marco Rubio. On the show “Fox and Friends”, Cruz said that both Rubio and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump would not be able to function as commander in chief. He cited their inability to attack the substance of an argument. Both Senators need strong support in this upcoming primary.

OBAMA DEFIES REPUBLICAN WISHES FOR SUPREME COURT

In a statement Monday, the White House has confirmed that President Obama will be going ahead in appointing a Supreme Court Justice to replace the late Antonin Scalia. White House press secretary Eric Schultz said that when Republicans could not support their positions, they have always fallen back, and that this is just another one of those cases. Schultz went on to say that Congress is obligated to fulfill its duty of genuinely considering any candidate that the President puts forward.
