PRIYANKA CHOPRA TO MAKE HOLLYWOOD DEBUT
Priyanka Chopra is arguably one of India’s most famous actresses, starring in the hit series Quantico. However, it looks as if Chopra will be taking her talents even further. She is slated to be the villain in the film adaptation of hit series Baywatch. Along with Hollywood superstars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and High School Musical star Zac Efron, Chopra will be playing the antagonist in a plot where an elite lifeguard (Johnson) must team up with a young hothead (Efron) in order to save the bay.
SUMMER WINTERLAND IN THE BAY
Summer is not yet here, but Mother Nature does not seem to know that. Monday saw record February temperatures reached in Oakland (74), San Francisco (77), and San Rafael (80). San Jose fell short of its record of 80 degrees, stopping at just 76. Meteorologist Larry Smith explains the unusually warm weather through the lack of cloud cover, which has warmed up the lower atmosphere considerably. However, Wednesday is forecasted to have rain.
FORMER U.N. SECRETARY GENERAL DEAD AT 93
Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former Secretary General for the United Nations died on Tuesday at 93 years old. He served as U.N. chief from 1992 to 1996, a term marked by war in Yugoslavia, famine and genocide in Africa and conflict with the United States. As U.N. chief, Ghali organized the first massive relief attempt in the Horn of Africa. He also earned the nickname “the pharaoh”, after attempts to reform the United Nations body by slashing posts and demoting officials.
SINGER WEIGHS IN ON GUN CONTROL
Jesse Hughes is the lead singer for Eagles of Death Metal, the band that was performing at the Bataclan in Paris the night of the attacks. Hughes is set to perform in Paris on Tuesday, the first time the band will have returned to Paris since the deadly attacks on November 13, which left over 100 dead. When asked about gun control, Hughes dismissed French gun control laws, saying that they did not stop the terrorists from storming the Bataclan and killing people.
