Economist Larry Summers predicts a protracted recession should Donald Trump be elected president. In an op-ed piece for the financial times, Summers called the New York magnate one of the most dangerous candidates for the presidency ever. He cited Trump’s conflicting economic and foreign policies as reasons for why, in the first 18 months of a Trump presidency, the United States economy will begin to tank. Chief among the Republican nominee’s detrimental policies is his plan to cut trade with the entire world. While some may brush off Summers’ criticism as Democratic fears, prominent Republicans such as Mitt Romney and Meg Whitman concur with his findings.
