SUPREME COURT DEADLOCKED OVER IMMIGRATION

The Supreme Court recently heard a case related to President Obama’s executive actions regarding immigration. Obama’s plan would have allowed the millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States to come out and declare their status. When the plan was announced in 2014, it was blocked by more than 20 states, and consequently barred by a federal district court. The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that there was an equal split between the justices over the President’s immigration plan. Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton criticized the decision, saying that it is indicative of why the Supreme Court needs an odd number of justices.
