LOUISIANA MAN SHOT BY POLICE
Alton Sterling was a respected and loved member of his community. Every day, he would sell CD’s and DVD’s outside a convenience store, with the permission of the owner. However, Sterling was shot to death on Tuesday outside that convenience store by police who arrived on the scene after having received an anonymous tip that there was a man with a gun outside the store. A 48 second cellphone video of the two officers pinning Sterling to the ground surfaced, and the evidence appears to be quite damning. The Sterlings’ family lawyer, Edmond Jordan, says that he believes the city has a lot of explaining to do. The governor of Louisiana released a statement, saying that he was disturbed by the footage. He further called for unity and calm following the release of the video, which sparked tremendous outrage.
