MESSI FOUND GUILTY OF TAX FRAUD

First a loss in his second straight Copa America final, and then being found guilty of tax fraud. It’s not Lionel Messi’s year. That being said, he’s still arguably the best footballer on the planet. However, the Barcelona forward was found guilty and sentenced to 21 months in prison by a Barcelona court. He will not actually serve the time. Since it’s his first criminal offence and the time to be served is less than 2 years, Messi is just required to pay a fine of $2.3 million. His father was handed a similar punishment with a lesser fine. Forbes Magazine designated Messi as the second highest paid player on the planet, after his yearly earning of $81.4 million in 2015.
