75% OF RURAL HOMES DON'T HAVE POTABLE DRINKING WATER


New Delhi: Only less than 25% of rural households and less than 2/3rds of urban homes in India have piped water that is potable for drinking in their houses or yard, according to a national Statistical Office report. While most rural households only have access to a latrine, and 21% have no access to a source of water, and as part of a larger survey firewood is still the main source of energy for cooking.
