The cost of car insurance in the UK increased by 1% in the first quarter, as per a survey released on Monday. This suggests a slowdown in the rate of premium growth compared to last year.

According to the data from the Association of British Insurers' (ABI) Motor Insurance Tracker, insurers have been absorbing rising costs, with the average claim paid rising by 8% to reach a record of £4,800 ($6,004.80) in the first quarter compared to the same period last year.
