As spring begins, the water content in California's mountain snowpack is just shy of average, but a winter storm expected to hit the Sierra Nevada in the coming days will provide a welcome boost. Nearly all of the state's reservoirs are above their historic capacity, with the largest ones, including Shasta and Oroville in the north, more than 80% full.
Three more storms are forecasted to impact Northern California this week and next, following an already wet winter. Additionally, the state has benefited from water stored during the past two years of ample rain and snow.
