DENSE FOG ADVISORY FOR BAY AREA CONTINUES INTO AFTERNOON

A dense fog advisory was extended twice Wednesday for much of the Bay Area, and the lingering fog prompted temporary ground stops at local airports.

Initially, the advisory was in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday but was extended twice -- first to 11 a.m. then to 1 p.m. Visibility was expected to be a quarter-mile or less in some places, resulting in hazardous driving conditions, especially during the morning commute.
