EU EXTENDS TRADE GUIDE ON CHINESE DISTORTIONS TO NEW SECTORS

NEWS Desk Global

The European Commission has released an updated report on state-led distortions in the Chinese economy, expanding its focus to include additional sectors. This move potentially opens the door for anti-dumping complaints from EU producers in industries such as chip manufacturing and clean technology.

There are sectors such as telecom equipment, semiconductors, the rail industry, renewable energy, and electric vehicles as areas where distortions exist due to state intervention in China's economy. As a result, the European Commission is considering measures to protect EU firms from unfair competition, particularly in the clean-tech sector. To address these concerns, the Commission is reviewing subsidies received by Chinese wind turbine suppliers and launching an anti-subsidy investigation into imports of Chinese electric vehicles. These actions aim to safeguard the interests of EU producers and ensure fair competition in the European market.
