LAST DAY TO WEIGH IN ON NEW NAME FOR SAN JOSE'S DOWNTOWN PLAZA

Monday is the last day for the public to weigh in on a new name for San Jose's downtown plaza formerly known as Plaza de César Chávez. On Sunday, families flocked downtown so their kids could cool off in the fountains. And while many here still refer to this spot as Plaza de Cesar Chavez, after more than three decades that’s no longer the official name.

The city launched a renaming process in June following explosive sexual abuse allegations against Chavez. After receiving more than 600 suggestions, the city has narrowed down the new names to these five and is asking residents to vote.
