MAJOR BOOST FOR HIGH-SPEED RAIL IN WESTERN US WITH $6 BILLION GRANTS FROM BIDEN
High-speed rail plans in the western United States are gaining momentum as the Biden administration allocates $6 billion in government grants. The funding, part of President Biden's infrastructure bill, aims to revamp railways and roads, with a goal to double train passengers by 2040.
Details:
Las Vegas to Los Angeles Line: $3 billion will support the construction of a high-speed line spanning 218 miles between Las Vegas and downtown Los Angeles, reducing travel time from five hours to two hours and 40 minutes.
California Connection: The remaining funds will aid the long-touted high-speed rail line connecting Los Angeles with San Francisco, addressing the lag in high-speed rail infrastructure compared to Europe and Asia.
