Project Tiger has set up 53 tiger reserves across ecosystems in India including Namdapha in the north-eastern Himalayas, Pakke and Nameri in the foothills, Danpia in the Mizo hills, and Valmiki in the Terai region of Bihar. But elsewhere to the east of central India, there is no tiger population at the moment.
