The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration announced on Thursday that it would be allocating $970 million to 114 airports nationwide as part of an initiative to modernize and expand aging infrastructure. This includes $35 million allocated to Washington Dulles International Airport for the construction of a 14-gate terminal building and $40 million allocated to Chicago O'Hare for improvements to one of its terminals.
The Biden administration has consistently allocated similar amounts to airports over the past few years, including last year and in 2022. This ongoing investment reflects a broader effort to upgrade aging airport infrastructure across the country, which has often faced criticism in the past. According to the FAA, these grants aim to address the increasing demand for air travel and support projects that enhance the overall passenger experience.
