A shooting injured two people and shut down a busy stretch of Highway 101 in San Carlos for hours Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The shooting happened around 5 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 south of Holly Street, according to the CHP.

Investigators said someone opened fire on a black Infiniti sedan carrying three people — a 25-year-old driver and passengers ages 22 and 17. It remains unclear whether the people inside the car were targeted or caught in the crossfire. One person was grazed by a bullet in the hand, while another suffered a back injury. No one was seriously injured.
