INDIA VS NEW ZEALAND: NEW ZEALAND BEAT INDIA BU 47 RUNS

The World T20 tournament is being played in India. India have got off to a bad start in the series. They lost by 47 runs to New Zealand in Nagpur today.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat. New Zealand could not make much due to the heavy conditions, making a below par score of 126 for seven. Their top scorer was Corey Anderson with 34. The Indian medium pacers newcomer Jasprit Bumrah and veteran Ashish Nehra bowled pretty well. Bumrah was very effective with his yorkers, tying down the New Zealand batsmen and conceding only 15 runs off 4 overs and picking up one wicket. However India had a disastrous start to their innings losing openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan as soon as their innings began. Suresh Raina succumbed to a poor shot, and Yuvraj Singh hung around for a while before falling. Things just got worse for India with the dismissals of mainstay Virat Kohi and Harthik Pandey. Skipper MS Dhoni tried valiantly to redeem the situation but he too fell after making 30 off 30 balls, and it was all over for India as they collapsed to 79 to lose the match by 47 runs. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner took four wickets for 11 runs to win the Man of the Match award. Spinner Ish Sodhi lent solid support with 3 for 11. India next play against Pakistan on 20th March.
