UNITED STATES ACCUSES ISIS OF GENOCIDE

In a statement on Thursday, United StAtes Secretary of State John Kerry said that the terror group ISIS is responsible “genocide against groups in areas under its control including Yazidis, Christians and Shiite Muslims”. KILLER WHALES TO LEAVE SEAWORLD

The iconic water park has declared that this current generation of killer whales will be the last in the care of the park. In a statement on its company website, SeaWorld said that the park is trying to adapt to a changing world. A 2013 documentary called “Blackfish” brought SeaWorld under fire for its treatment of killer whales. It followed one killer whale named Tilkum, who was responsible for the death of three people, including its former trainer Dawn Brancheau. Tilkum is now 35 years old and SeaWorld officials have said that they will be giving the highest quality veterinary care to its old animals. They went on to add that orcas will be a part of the SeaWorld legacy, going on to inspire people for generations

MITCH MCCONNELL BLAMES DEMOCRATS FOR SCOTUS WAR

On Wednesday, President Obama put forth his nomination for the newest Supreme Court justice, following the late Antonin Scalia’s death. Obama nominated centrist judge Merrick Garland, a moderate appeals judge who many believed was the best choice for SCOTUS. However, the GOP controlled Senate has refused to consider any nominee the president presents and insists on waiting until a new president is elected. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell said that the Democrats only had themselves to blame for the uphill battle. The Senate is currently denying any confirmation hearings for the nominated judge, instead waiting for the swearing in of the next president.

SENATE MINORITY LEADER BLAMES GOP FOR TRUMP RISE

In a reference to Chris Christie’s endorsement of the Republican frontrunner, Senate minority leader Harry Reid blasted Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell for the rise of Donald Trump. Reid accused the high profile Republicans of propelling Trump to his position at the front of the rise. While Ryan and McConnell both reprimand Trump whenever he says something outrageous, such as calling “immigrants rapists and murderers”, Reid says that Ryan and McConnell always back him, never doing enough to stop him. Reid went on to say that it’s time to go farther in standing up to Trump.
