IPL 2016: SEASON 9

In the sixth match of the Indian Premier League in Rajkot, Gujarat Lions had no trouble in beating Rising Pune Supergiants by seven wickets with two full overs to spare. Rising Pune Supergiants won the toss, batted first but could not forge big partnerships though every one of their frontline batsmen except Steven Smith got going. Faf du Plessis hammered 69 off 43 balls with four sixes and five fours but the others Ajinkya Rahane, Kevin Pietersen and Steven Smith could not keep up the tempo, thus RPS ended up with a below par score of 163 for five wickets. Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch got Gujarat Lions off to a rousing start, putting on 85 for the first wicket off just 50 balls. They did lose a couple of wickets but after the fantastic start, the end result was never in doubt and the match finished in an anticlimax with Gujarat Lions breezing to a win with two full overs to spare. Aaron Finch completed his 50 while McCullum fell one short of it.
