IPL 2016: SEASON 9

In the ongoing Indian Premier League match in Mumbai, captain Rohit Sharma has led from the front and helped his team Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. Mumbai Indians won the toss and put RCB in to bat first. The Royal Challengers got good starts from Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers but none of the top order batsmen capitalized on their good starts and frittered away the advantage. With some late hitting from Travis Head who got to 37 off 24 balls, the Royal Challengers managed to post a reasonable total of 170 for 7. Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding, claiming three wickets for 31 off his four overs. In reply, the Mumbai Indians lost Parthiv Patel very early but Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu settled the nerves in a rollicking stand of 76 in nine overs. Once they got out, James Buttler and Kieron Pollard ensured that their great start was not wasted, Pollard clubbing an unbeaten 40 off 19 balls with three sixes to finish the match in style. Rohit Sharma with his contribution of 62 received the Man of the Match award.
