IPL 2016: SEASON 9

At the halfway stage of the Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to put it across Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore today, thanks to a furious assault from Yusuf Pathan and a fine allround performance from Andre Russell. After being asked to bat first, Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a splendid total of 185 off their 20 overs. Opener Lokesh Rahul played an aggressive knock of 52 off 32 balls, and captain Virat Kohli was a little more circumspect in hitting 52 off 44 deliveries. Andre Russell had a fine spell of one wicket for 24 runs off his four overs. However when the Kolkata Knight Riders batted, captain Gautam Gambhir managed to score 37 off 29 balls even as wickets fell around him before Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell took charge of the situation. They went hammer and tongs, blazing away 96 runs off seven overs, and before long it was all over as the Kolkata Knight Riders reached their target of 186 off the first ball of the final over, losing only five wickets. Yusuf Pathan played a masterly knock of 60 not out off 29 deliveries, but Andre Russell took the Man of the Match award for his 24-ball 39 studded with four sixes to go with his incisive spell of bowling.
