The Gujarat Lions have achieved a comprehensive victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata in the 38th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League. Gujarat Lions won the toss, put Kolkata Knight Riders in to bat, and the Kolkata Knight Riders were in trouble right away, losing four top order batsmen as they got to 24, including Suryakumar Yadav to a spectacular, blink-and-you-miss-it sor of an acrobatic catch by skipper Suresh Raina at first slip. Praveen Kumar was deadly and economical, taking two wickets while conceding only 19 runs off his four overs. Thereafter Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan combined to put on an unbeaten 134 for the fifth wicket but the damage had been done early, and a score of 158 for four was not really going to challenge the Gujarat Lions. All the Gujarat Lions batsmen did their bit, providing vital runs for the team before Dinesh Karthik and Aaron Finch exploded, scoring a combined 80 runs off less than 40 balls. Praveen Kumar, the long forgotten hero of India's series victory over Australia in Australia in 2008, was declared the Man of the Match.
