HEROES OF THE ORLANDO ATTACKS
Among all the discussion about the shooter of a gay nightclub in Orlando, we forget those who took it upon themselves to protect others in this time of crisis. Joshua McGill, a nursing student, helped a man with multiple gunshot wounds get to a hospital safely. Christopher Hansen kept another survivor safe inside the club while she searched for her girlfriend. Ray Rivera, DJ at the Pulse Nightclub, protected two people by hiding them beneath his DJ stand, and eventually helping them escape to the police. Edward Sotomayor Jr, brand manager for an LGBT travel agency, died shielding his boyfriend from the shooter. These are the names we need to be remembering, not that of a man who decided to end lives on Sunday morning.
