OBAMA’S REACTION TO ORLANDO CRITICIZED

President Barack Obama has had perhaps one of the most closely scrutinized and criticized administrations in American history. Chief among the criticisms that opponents have for the president is the notion that his unemotional, reasonable response to terror attacks is indicative of his apathy. They argue that he should be more emotional while making his speeches, asserting that his lack thereof shows that he does not understand the terror threat and has not protected America to the fullest extent of his abilities. Obama defends his rhetoric by saying that if he were to make promises of revenge, and allow the full range of his emotions to show, the terrorists would get exactly what they want. Furthermore, by leveling with the nation about the inevitability of terrorism in this modern age, Obama hopes to make the American people appreciate that the government needs to succeed 100% of the time, whereas the attacker need only succeed once.
