SUPREME COURT RULES AGAINST TEXAS IN ABORTION

Texas legislators had a law in the works which would have closed all but a few abortion clinics in the state of Texas. However, the Supreme Court ruled on the controversial law at the behest of pro-choice supporters, choosing to quash the rule in a stunning 5-3 victory for those who wanted the abortion law out. The opinion was written by Justices Stephen Breyer and Anthony Kennedy. It was contributed to by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The justices asserted that increasing the requirements to get an abortion would create an “undue burden” on the woman seeking to get an abortion. Hillary Clinton praised SCOTUS’ decision, saying that the right to get an abortion should be a right.
