WILLIAMS SISTERS DOMINATE WIMBLEDON

For some years, Venus Williams suffered from Sjogren’s Syndrome, which forced her to give up tennis during what could have been her peak years. However, rather than allowing the disease to drag her down, Williams has powered through to reach the position she’s at today. Venus Williams is now in the historic position of oldest semifinalist at Wimbledon since Martina Navratilova, after having defeated Yaroslava Shvedova 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. Sjogren’s Syndrome is an autoimmune disease that leaves Williams with fatigue and the uncertainty if she will wake up any given day feeling 100% ready to play. There’s no cure for it, but Williams has been battling through and has done well to make it to her first semifinal in a major since the 2010 U.S. Open.
