AFTER THE VIDEO ENDED: FALCON HEIGHTS

The Philando Castile and Alton Sterling shootings happened days ago, but investigations are still a top priority for law enforcement. Police Chief Rick Mathwig took it upon himself to clarify several claims that were made following the news of the shootings. One such claim was that Diamond Reynolds, Philando Castile’s fiancée, was detained all night in a holding room. Mathwig assured press that Reynolds was held in a “soft interview room”, so named because there are toys, books and blankets in it. The Governor of Minnesota said that no CPR had been administered to Philando Castile before he died, a statement that was refuted by Mathwig, who claimed that an officer applied CPR three minutes after arriving on site. Investigators looked into Castile’s background for proof of racial profiling in the shooting. What they found was that he had been pulled over an average of three times per year, with most of the cases against him being dismissed in court.
