HACKERS ROB ATMS WITHOUT A CARD

Masked men went around Taiwan with a device that connected to the ATM’s and they made off with approximately $2 million in a backpack. Authorities believe that the perpetrators most likely came from Russia and Eastern Europe. German manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf, who made the ATM’s, confirmed that the attack took place. Despite investigators’ theory that the thieves infiltrated the system with malware that told the machine to give them cash and erase any trace of the crime, Wincor Nixdorf said that no evidence of any such infiltration had been found. Many Taiwanese banks have rendered their ATM’s unusable in light of these attacks.
