OFFICERS INJURED IN RNC PROTESTS
The Republican National Convention has been the site of several controversies, all of which have been nonviolent. Until Wednesday. Cleveland’s finest made 18 arrests on Wednesday after protesters tried to burn the American flag. A protester’s leg caught on fire in the process. After an officer tried putting it out and alerting the protester to the fact, the man assaulted the officer. The Convention saw over 200 police officers try to subdue the protests, quickly escalating the situation into the most heated conflict the RNC has seen this year. Many Trump supporters and Republicans attending the convention warned police that protesters were planning to burn the flag. Police waited by the intersection in question with fire extinguishers in order to quell the rumored flag burning.
