With tech giants such as Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung taking over the smartphone industry, it’s easy to forget that BlackBerry has not yet gone out of business. A smartphone Goliath some years ago, BlackBerry has since been displaced by Apple and Samsung. However, the phone company is back with a plan. First on the list? Stop making their most iconic product. That’s right, the BlackBerry phone with the little tracking ball and wide keyboard is now a thing of the past. BlackBerry will no longer be making them. Next? Reveal a product, dubbing it the “world’s most secure smartphone”. The Canadian company revealed something they call DTEK50, a new smartphone that runs off Android 6.0 Marshmallow software. The software is meant to encrypt all the data on the phone, backing up BlackBerry’s claim that DTEK50 would be the most secure phone on the market.
