FLORIDA’S ZIKA OUTBREAK INTENSIFIES

Recently, Florida announced that they had found the first homegrown cases of the Zika virus. Despite calls for an accelerated timetable to find a cure, one has not been synthesized yet. Consequently, Florida had the misfortune of announcing that 10 more cases of the virus had emerged. The number of homegrown cases, or cases that have arisen as a result of local rather than foreign mosquitos, have now risen to 14. Florida Governor Rick Scott has assured that the outbreak is contained within 1 square mile north of downtown Miami, and called on the CDC to help end the outbreak.
