WATER MAY BE UNSAFE FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS
In light of the crisis in Flint, safe drinking water should be a priority for all Americans. However, that epithet was proven wrong when a recent study revealed that as many as 5,000 water systems could be contaminated by chemicals, leading to potential danger for millions of Americans. Much of the water in these systems is infected with perfluoroalkyl substances, or PFA’s, which are thought to result in high cholesterol, obesity, hormone suppression and cancer. However, Dr. Susan M. Pinney does not believe there is cause to fear PFA’s yet, as we do not understand enough about them.
