MACY'S TO CLOSE MORE STORES
Retail shopping is taking a hit these days, with e-commerce businesses such as Amazon taking over the shopping landscape. Macy’s recently announced the planned closure of 100 stores, 15% of all of its department stores. However, Macy’s is not alone in these mass closures. Walmart is planning to close 269 stores, along with their newest acquisition in e-commerce competitor Jet.com. Sports Authority filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed all 450 of its department stores, further perpetuating the trends of retailers closing up shop in favor of online shopping.
