OLYMPIC MEDALIST BELONGS TO INDIA
PV Sindhu won a silver medal in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio and was treated as a hero on her return to India. However, the medalist also faced a slight dilemma coming back to her home country. Two states wanted to claim that her roots went deeper in their respective regions. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana argue that Sindhu is “their own”. However, when asked about the matter, PV Sindhu’s mentor, Pullela Gopichand said that he would argue that Sindhu “belongs to India”. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana plan to honor Sindhu with lavish ceremonies.
