HOPE SOLO BANNED FOR COMMENTS AT RIO
United States Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo has been banned from the sport for six months due to unsavory comments she made following the U.S.’ loss to Sweden, when she called the Swedish national team ‘a bunch of cowards’. Subsequently, disappointed with her “sour grapes” reaction, U.S. Soccer suspended her and revoked her contract with the national team. However, the Federation also claims that the suspension is not just a result of the comments at the games, but rather due to a number of things Solo has done up until now, including her multiple court appearances.
