"BLACK LIVES MATTER" PROTEST IN SACRAMENTO

The shooting death of an unarmed 22 year old, father of two, black man, Stephon Clark in his grandparents' backyard on Sunday, by Police officers sparked protests in Sacramento, yesterday. Officers fired approximately 20 shots at Clark and then waited more than five minutes before administering aid. The only object found near Clark's body was a cellphone. On Thursday, activists from Black Lives Matter and other groups chanted inside City Hall before making their way to Interstate 5, shutting down traffic both ways during rush hour. A police department statement says: "Prior to the shooting, the involved officers saw the suspect facing them, advance forward with his arms extended, and holding an object in his hands. At the time of the shooting, the officers believed the suspect was pointing a firearm at them. After an exhaustive search, scene investigators did not locate any firearms. The only item found near the suspect was a cell phone."Clark was pronounced dead on the scene by personnel from the fire department.
