Bengaluru: India's biodiversity hotspot, the Western Ghats, is home to 62 desiccation-tolerant vascular plant species, which are able to withstand extreme dehydration, by living even when 95% of their water content is lost they are able to "revive" themselves when water is available again. These can be useful where water is scarce, according to the Department of Science.
