ARUNACHALAM VELLAYAN, FORMER MURUGAPPA GROUP CHAIRMAN, PASSES AWAY AT 72

Arunachalam Vellayan, former chairman of the Murugappa Group and Chairman Emeritus of Coromandel International, passed away in Chennai on Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 72.

A fourth-generation member of the storied business family and great-grandson of founder Dewan Bahadur Murugappa Chettiar, he is survived by his wife, Lalitha Vellayan, sons Arun and Narayanan, and grandchildren.
