BAY AREA SCIENCE CENTERS WILL HOST ECLIPSE, METEOR SHOWER EVENTS

Bay Area science institutions will host several events Wednesday for people interested in astronomy, including watch parties for a total solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower. The Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland will host a NASA livestream of the total solar eclipse beginning at 10 a.m., with Iceland's eclipse occurring around 10:45 a.m. A Perseid meteor shower watch party is scheduled for 11 p.m. at the center at 10000 Skyline Blvd.

The California Academy of Sciences and SETI Institute will host a total solar eclipse event at 10:30 a.m. featuring livestreams from Iceland and northern Spain, along with a live performance by the International Space Orchestra. The event will be held at 55 Music Concourse Drive in San Francisco. The Exploratorium will also host an eclipse watch party at 10:30 a.m. with a live telescope broadcast from Spain, where totality is expected at 11:28 a.m. The event will be at Pier 15 on the Embarcadero, San Francisco.
