The SNAP benefit halt means there are several ways Bay Area communities are helping each other right now. In San Jose, Recovery Cafe was the beneficiary of a special fundraiser Sunday.

Its next-door neighbor, Urban Sanctuary Church, organized a morning of music, brunch, and giving, to support the nonprofit. Recovery Cafe helps people recovering from homelessness, addiction, and mental illness with community and programs.
