COMMANDERS HIRE 49ERS ASSISTANT HEAD COACH ANTHONY LYNN AS RUN-GAME COORDINATOR
The Washington Commanders, under the leadership of Dan Quinn, are making significant strides by adding key personnel to their coaching staff. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Commanders are set to bring on board Anthony Lynn, the assistant head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, to serve as their run-game coordinator.
The hiring of Anthony Lynn, aged 55, marks a significant change in the coaching staff, as he becomes the first assistant coach who participated in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday to be recruited from either the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers' coaching staffs.
This move follows the Commanders' earlier announcement of Kliff Kingsbury joining the team as its offensive coordinator. Lynn, who previously served as head coach for the L.A. Chargers from 2017 to 2020, brings a wealth of coaching experience, boasting a 33-31 record along with a 1-1 postseason record during his tenure. It's worth noting that Lynn's relationship with the Commanders' new general manager, Adam Peters, is said to be strong, with Peters having previously served as the assistant general manager for the 49ers. Additionally, Lynn shares a good rapport with the Commanders' newly appointed head coach, Dan Quinn. With over 20 years of experience coaching running backs in the league, Lynn's background as a former running back himself adds valuable expertise to his new role.
