GIANTS HOPE TO GET MATOS UP TO SPEED AT CENTER FIELD WITH LEE OUT

The Giants were not alone in being drawn to Jung Hoo Lee's bat-to-ball skills in the offseason, but given the size of the contract they handed out, it's probably safe to say they were more confident than others in Lee's ability to be an everyday center fielder. That's a skill they desperately needed after recent seasons.

Giants center fielders ranked 28th in the Majors in Outs Above Average in each of the last two seasons, and it was clear late last year that a lot of their returning options were miscast in the middle of the outfield.
