GRADING AND EVALUATING SHARKS' OFFSEASON HEADING INTO UPCOMING 2025-26 NHL SEASON

San Jose signed 22-year-old winger William Eklund to a three-year, $16.8 million extension (average annual value: $5.6 million), which will kick in with the 2026–27 season.

Eklund led the Sharks with a historical breakout last season: 58 points (17 goals, 41 assists in 77 games), marking career highs in all categories.The contract aligns closely with earlier projections from San Jose Hockey Now, which anticipated a three- to four-year deal in the $5 million+ AAV range.
