IN PILOT PROJECT, NHAI WILL OPEN 4 SHELTERS IN MP TO HOUSE COWS
In a pilot, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build four cow shelters in Madhya Pradesh to provide shelter to stray cows which often get on to national highways (NHs) and cause accidents. These shelters - named 'Gau Raksha-Sadak Suraksha Kendras' - will be used to provide a safe place to the cattle and are expected to curb mishaps on the main highway.
The Bhopal office of NHAI has invited bids from private players for construction of these shelters along the Obedullagunj-Itarsi section of NH-69 in Raisen, Sehore and Narmadapuram districts. The private player has to deploy a two-wheeler on the project stretch for removing the stray cattle from the main highway.
