INDIA'S FIRST CLONED COW

The Gir calf was born this year on March 16th, 2023, and is the first clone of a cow in India. The calf named Ganga, was created at the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), in Karnal, Haryana. Their hope is that cloning will increase the breeding of indigenous cows, whose numbers have decreased due to cross-breeding, and new exotic breeds and exports.
